Five of the 18 holes are situated on sand-dunes along the Atlantic coast alongside the stunning Meia Praia beach. The remaining 13 holes are laid out among gently undulating hills. Hole no. 5, Stroke Index 1 is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the most outstanding links hole in Europe. Most of other holes enjoy either panoramic views over the Bay of Lagos or of the more distant Monchique hills.
Palmares Course is a Par 71, including 11 par 4′s, three par 5′s, and 4 par 3′s.
Opened in January 2002 this quickly became established as one of the Western Algarve’s premier courses. This impressive 18 hole championship course offers exceptional playing conditions and was designed by Howard Swan a renowned UK based architect. Boavista offers two distinct parts – the Resort Section (the 1st to the 3rd and the 13th to the 18th) and the Country Section (the 4th to the 12th) – which provide a variety of attractive and interesting holes. The Boavista course offers an enjoyable range of very individual holes which offer varying challenges for all levels of golfer. Boavista’s par 3’s are particularly strong and no one who has played over the ravine at the 194 metre 6th will ever forget the experience. From holes 13 to 17, water features, have been added and they also provide a safe haven for the wildlife.
